DIY Magnetic Power Connector

Hi,

I'm interested in the DIY Magnetic Power Connector.

Would it be possible to use those for led strips controlled with Arduino Uno? We need a type of connection take will require easy snap and release for an Architectural reduced model.

  • Hi Leah, thank you for your interest in our DIY magnetic power connectors.  The connectors have 2 conductors, so you could connect two wires.  LED strips typically require three wires (power, ground, and signal), so to get all of those connected, you'd need to use two connectors (power and ground in one connector, and signal in the other).  Another option would be to power the strip directly (not through the Arduino), then you could use the magnetic connector for ground and signal.  I hope this makes sense.  Let me know if you have any additional questions.

  • Hi Rob,

Thank you for the quick return and answer.

Will those conenctors be ok for 12V strips leds?

    Cheers

  • Leah Bellefleur Yes they should be fine.  The only concern would be if you had a lot of LEDs in the strips.  If the total current is very high (above 1.5A for example), you might not want to use these connectors.
