Hogwarts castle tower lights

Hi Rob

I have one tower window light not working. As you know I am installing as I go and and have only connected these to test as I will be working them up not down the tower. I have checked all connections  and it can’t be pinched as it’s not installed yet

  • Alan Overton Hi Alan, thanks for letting me know about this.  Since you were in the first batch of kits, I think I know what the issue may be.  We found some issues with some of the first-batch kits with the code inside the TRUNK08 master controller.  Net-net, sometimes the code inside the TRUNK08 doesn't trigger that eighth light.  It's an issue with the code, not with the wiring or light.  As long as you're sure the physical light works (i.e., try plugging it into another port on the BRANCH09X adapter), you can proceed with your installation.  Mount the light that's not working along with the others, and just make sure it's connected to the BRANCH09X adapter.  Continue the rest of your installation.

    After you've finished the entire installation and confirmed that everything else works, let me know and we can talk about getting you a TRUNK08 board with updated code on it.  All you'll need to do is just swap that one out for the TRUNK08 you have.  You won't have to change any connections under the castle.  The eighth light will begin working.

    If you have anything else you plan to order in the near future, we can drop the updated controller in that shipment, or if not, we can get it to you another way.

    All of the other lights in the rest of the setup will work-- this is the only one that sometimes does not.

    Hi Rob,

    Ok,  as you suspected, swapping the connection did the trick, the light that didn’t work did, and another stopped working.

    I will continue with the install, may take some time, and I’ll keep you updated with my progress and (hopefully not) any other issues

    Just an observation , why is the “special” cable that feeds the Branch17 spotlight board from Sens1 on the Trunk08 board so long (36”) ? as it seems it doesn’t need to be so long compared with other cables coming out the same place that connect to the Trunk08 board.

    Would you have such a thing as a schematic wiring diagram of the second part of the castle as it is pretty hard trying to track all the cable and board connections working up from the base

    Re: Schematic drawing, I want over your instructions on the Dozuki app slowly step by step and produced my own wiring diagram so it was easier to keep track of where I was going as I wasn’t following your instructions in sequence.

    while on the subject of the Dozuki app, would it be possible in future instructions to have them page numbered so you could go to a specific page when you open the instructions instead of having to scroll all the way from the beginning each time.

    Anyway, as you may have seen on my build log, I have now completed all the lighting. Everything works fine, so could you organise sending me a new trunk 8 board please. Nothing else on your site inspires me at the moment so I will probably wait for your next large Lego lighting/sound kit, the 75252 Star destroyer comes to mind. In the meantime, could you just send me the trunk 8 board ASAP so I can complete properly and get this one on display.
