New Here, Simple Build Question
Hi everyone. I’m doing something a little different (hybrid project) here - building a wood firehouse toy box - and am using a pico rotating beacon inside of a 1x1 trans-red round brick to mimic emergency light on the front. That will be fitted to the top of a loudspeakers brick. I’ve attached pictures to show what I’m using. My question is Im not sure what to do with the wire once I insert the rotating light inside the red round brick. Can the round brick be attached to the loudspeaker without pinching the wire. I don’t want to ruin the wire on the beacon by snapping the pieces together. It also seems if I tried drilling a hole in the loudspeaker, it will ruin the integrity of the post that the red round brick will sit on. Can someone please guide me on this? Thanks very much.

In short - no pun intended - yes to putting the wires under the 1x1 round brick. I typically will untwist the wires at the “pinch point” to make the profile smaller and/or cut a teeny notch at the brick’s base to create a wire channel for the wires to have a little extra wiggle room.
would love to see the finished result, too. :)

Hey Rob and Paul, thanks for your guidance. Was able to just drill a small hole in the bricks and it worked like a charm! I think the toy box turned out well for a beginning woodworker. Posting several pics and a short vid of the working lights. Can’t wait for the grandkids to see it after this pandemic.
