UCS Millennium Falcon Engine Lights Issue - One Side Lights First

Hello, I just finished the UCS Millennium Falcon light and sound kit installation and everything works great! But the engine lights, during a normal engine start (not the failed start), don't light up at the same time. The left side (looking from the rear) lights up well before the right. The right eventually lights up 4 seconds after the left lights up, and then the normal engine start proceeds as it should. But the 4 second delay is something I can't seem to figure out given that everything else in the whole kit is working just fine, and during a "failed' engine start, both sides light up simultaneously. It's just the "normal" engine start where the right set of lights delay.

Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot/fix this? Thanks!

Quick update: it now seems that the right engine lights are lagging just a little behind the left side during a "failed" engine start.

  • This means you've connected the engine strips incorrectly.  Each side has two wire connectors: one for the top and bottom lights on the strip section, and the other for the center strip.  As shown in the instructions, you need to connect both "center" lights to one of the BRANCH04 adapters and both "outer" lights to the other.  Based on what you're seeing, my guess is you connected both plugs from a single strip to one of the BRANCH04's and both plugs from the other to the other BRANCH04.  Have a look and let us know if switching these around solves the issue.

Rob Klingberg Perfect! Easy fix. I just went in and swapped the wires and everything works as it should now. Much appreciated! The whole kit is truly awesome, and I'm enjoying it so much. Thanks for creating this kit for the Falcon. There's nothing else like it, a real showstopper.

Rob Klingberg Another question. Sometimes when I press the "A" button on the remote (a short press, not a long press) when the engine lights are on, the main power will shut off completely (again, just with a short press). Any suggestions here? It's not really a "problem" but I'm wondering if there's some way to troubleshoot that.

It does turn back on right away with a long press of the A button, but that short press shutoff happens somewhat frequently when I'm trying to change the exterior lights and the engine lights are on.

  • Chris Dee Sounds like the system is interpreting your "short press" of the "A" button as a "long press"-- a long press turns the main power on and off.  Maybe try pressing a bit quicker.
