Rob Klingberg All internal - wires can't be seen at all until they emerge from the base. Each segment of the ring holds the top, bottom, and both faces together using a pair of the 4-stud bricks (4733). The wires are run internally through the top and bottom of each of those bricks, finally emerging from the bottom of the ring. The pico lights are embedded under 1x2 tiles and the wires are squeezed between the tiles on the front faces. The lights are ultimately controlled by an arduino, allowing for either individual control for stop-motion animation or cycling animation for demonstrations.
