Hi, thanks for your note.  Yes, flickering lights are not compatible with the power boost circuitry of the SEED13.  The SEED13xs does not have this boost circuitry, so it can operate using flickering lights.

I see now that I failed to mention this on the SEED13 product page! I do have some that I've modified to work with flickering lights, so if you can send an e-mail to us (support(at)brickstuff.com) and remind me of this conversation, I'll drop a modified SEED13 in the mail to you, which will work with your flickering/flashing lights.
