Sometimes sh*t happens and who are you gonna call??

So one of my son's favorite movies has been Ghostbusters since the time he was three, and honestly, those movies have been one of my favorites since the time I was a teenager as well.  When Lego produced the Firehouse Headquarters, I had it delivered in less than a week and it is absolutely one of our favorite builds of all times.  Just from a building perspective, it is a unique and enjoyable build from start to finish, not to mention one of Lego's largest kits as well.

Originally, I added some of the Lego-built lights to the kit.  It wasn't  necessarily the best looking additions I've ever done, but it definitely added a very nice touch to the kit:

However, when Rob produced his Firehouse HQ kit, not only was I completely tempted to get it, but my little boy was in my ear saying "It's worth it..." (yes, he knows who Clarance is!).  So, we decided to tackle the project.

Installing everything took a good deal of time, considering you have to disassemble the entire structure.  It is made to come apart from floor to floor, but if you really want to hide the wiring properly, you'll be taking apart some walls as well.... so be prepared for a long afternoon and evening when you sit down with this one.  I am completely convinced that if you have the option, you should add the lights during the initial build, as it makes it much cleaner of an installation.

Regardless, the result was awesome.... we couldn't be happier with it!  So, if you are a fan or even thinking about getting this one before Lego pulls it, just go ahead order it and make sure you order your kit from Rob the same day!!

  • Awesome results, John-- thanks again for sharing!  I love the before and after photos, and I also like how you're making such good use of our pushbutton switch.  Bravo, and keep up the great work!  And make sure to thank your son for whispering in your ear... :-)
