Magnet Wire and JST-SUR Connectors

Has anyone attached the magnet wire to the (small JST-SUR) connectors?  I don't think I want to spend thousands of dollars for a tool, but I would like to be able to build my own custom cables when needed.

Hi  , great question!  We're actually working on making some self-solder boards with the Pico (JST_SUR) connectors, so customers can indeed make their own extension cables.  Hoping to have them for sale on the site in the next month.  In terms of using the magnet wire with them, while this would be possible, keep in mind that using long runs of magnet wire would result in power drops (since the wire is so thin).  A better option for making custom extension cables would be to use our 2-conductor 32-gauge wire in your required length.

Keep an eye on the New Releases section of our website to see when these DIY plug boards are available-- hopefully they'll meet your requirements!

Hey   ,  my bad, I didn't mean "magnet wire".  I meant to say the 2-conductor 32-guage wire.  My goal is two-fold:  1) Customizing the length of existing light wires and re-terminate the wires (without soldering) and 2) Run lighting wires through drilled holes in LEGO pieces (pieces currently not offered pre-wired online by anyone) and re-terminate.  Sometimes I just want to shorten a wire length to a custom length removing the excess.  Basically, looking for a tool/method to terminate wires with the MALE JST-SUR connector.  My soldering skills have declined over the years (lol).

The connectors we're working on are *female* with solder tabs, so you could make female-to-female cables using two of the connectors.  If you're looking for male connectors, we sell these today pre-terminated.  Or you could use one of each (plug + cable) to create a male-to-female extender.

I am looking for a tool to terminate a wire with a new *male* connector.  The idea is to run a wire (with a light already soldered to one end) through a hole(s) drilled into a LEGO piece (for example 6326425 - the LEGO candle stick) then terminate the wire with the *male* jst-sur connector.
