[WIP] DeLorean DMC-12 Timemachine (Back to the Future)

Today I finished the reasonably presentable Version of the DeLorean DMC-12 Timemachine, which where Designed by Dave Slater (you can get the instructions on Brickvault). The Design is amazing and in my opinion the possibilities to get light into this Modell are great!

I will start experimenting with it within the next week.

One Idea is to add one of your BrickScreens for the Flux capacitor inside the car.

  • Ah yes, a beautiful model!  We have it also, and have been playing around with some custom ideas for several months.  I want to see if we can do something around the "Christmas Tree" panel behind the drivers' seat.  Looking forward to your ideas....

  • First try for the time machine panel. Maybe I should use another effect?

  • Freakmaster I think that looks really good!

  • Rob Klingberg , what do you think... is it better to use a printed window with backlight for the flux capacitor or one of your brick screens?

  • Freakmaster I'm thinking about making a custom circuit board with small LEDs mounted that would fit behind the gray parts and yellow hands in a "Y" arrangement, so they could pulse in motion like the "real" flux capacitor.  The board would be 0.5mm thin so it would fit behind the parts.  The board could be black so it would blend in well.  Definitely a lot less expensive than a screen, and would use a lot less power.  What do you think?

You mean the small LED which you used in the UCS Star Destroyer set (the blue once)?

    Wow, they are really small.
